FROM CONSULTANT TO VICE PRESIDENT
We spoke to Filippa, Senior Manager and Vice President at Insource, about building a career at Insource, the thought behind the investments we make in our consultants, and why we advocate for our consultants to work from the client’s office.
A career at Insource
At Insource, we work hard to have an environment that supports our employees’ desired career paths and development. Entrepreneurship is central to how we do things, and if you show initiative, you can make an impact and get responsibility early on. Filippa is a great example of how one can develop and build a career at Insource. Hers is a career trajectory that may be faster than most, however, it has played out one step at a time. Filippa joined Insource in 2018 as a consultant after working as an accountant for a listed company in Stockholm for a few years. Today, as Senior Manager and Vice President, she takes on consulting leadership roles at our clients’ financial departments and counsels junior and senior talent at Insource.
“I didn’t have a very advanced career plan when I started at Insource. My goal was never to become someone’s boss, instead, my mindset was to go that extra mile in client delivery and gain the trust of Insource to lead internal training programs and support colleagues with career counseling. I understood what was required of me, always did my best, and rose in seniority one level at a time. It shows that when the individual’s ambitions and achievements align with the company’s requirements of employees at different levels and the strategic direction, everything is possible.”
If you ask Filippa, or our talent acquisition specialists for that matter, about a central aspect of the hiring process and the career path at Insource, they will talk about our company values.
“We are a value-driven company, and to succeed as a company and for our consultants to thrive in our environment, we must all live by our values at work. Hence, there must be a basic level of alignment between the consultant’s values and our company values. There is an internalization process of the values that occurs over time, but they cannot be widely different.”
Investing in our employed consultants
The investments we make in our consultants’ development go hand in hand with the quality of the delivery to the client. We nurture our employed consultants with training, exciting challenges, and the right conditions to become multifaceted consultants. It creates loyalty among the employees – to Insource, and by extension to our clients.
“What you give is what you get, and if you gain knowledge, you want to share that knowledge. The investments we make in further educating our consultants and creating a pleasant and fun work environment come around in happy employees and satisfied customers.”
On-site with clients
With each consultancy assignment, we strive to make it possible for the consultants to work from our client’s office. There are multiple benefits, but the main one is that we can deliver better when we get to know the company and build relationships in person with our clients. To truly support our clients and contribute with value, we talk a lot about getting to know them, being curious, and engaging in both the business and social context of the client.
“All companies face challenges, often the same ones, and realizing that may make you feel hopeless, but as a consultant, I feel grateful. At this point in my career, I have almost always experienced similar situations when I encounter a challenge. And if I haven’t, there is definitely someone else at Insource who has. I aim to make our clients’ everyday a little easier. If I chat with a client colleague at the coffee machine telling me that we have contributed to making their job a little smoother that day, it’s the best news I can get.”
